17th Annual John Goldman Conference on CML in Estoril: Biology and Therapy

JGM2015 Entrance

From October 1-4, 2015 584 clinicians and researchers from 59 countries gathered for the 17th John Goldman Conference to discuss latest findings in the biology and management of CML.

This conference co-sponsored by the iCMLf and the European School of Haematology is also a great opportunity for the CML community to network and exchange experiences and perspectives: “This premier CML meeting usually offers an exciting CML focused scientific program of high-value, but the most important part of this conference are the discussions with other CML experts united in their effort to develop better treatment and care for patients with CML”, said Jorge Cortes during his opening remarks of the congress.  Professor Cortes chaired the meeting together with Professor Tessa Holyoake and Professor Tim Hughes.

‘John Goldman Fun Run’ raised over $1,300 to improve CML treatment in the emerging regions

On Sunday morning 52 participants of the 17th John Goldman Meeting on CML in Estoril had an early start to the day running with colleagues and friendsDSC01267 at the 5 km ‘John Goldman Fun Run’. The atmosphere was breathtaking as the sun rose along the picturesque Estoril promenade. What a start to the day!

Besides the fun and health, it was also for a good cause. A special thank you to those you donated to the iCMLf and received a John Goldman Run T-Shirt. We raised over $1,300 that will go directly to the iCMLf John Goldman Fund to improve CML treatment in the emerging regions.

Here are some impressions from participants of the 2015 ‘John Goldman Fun Run’:

'A wonderful idea to run along the beautiful promenade – what a great experience'

'To run and laugh together brings the CML community even closer together'

'It was really worth getting up so early, and all for a good cause'

Insights into biology and treatment of CML

From September 4-7, 2014 around 523 key clinicians and researchers from 45 different countries gathered in Philadelphia during the 16th John Goldman Conference on CML to discuss progress in the biology and therapy of CML. The conference, co-sponsored by the iCMLf and the European School of Haematology, again presented latest research findings from both a biological and a scientific perspective: “I was honoured to chair this premier CML meeting and it is amazing to see what we can achieve if clinicians and scientists with a strong CML focus bring together their expertise and jointly discuss their recent research results.” said Professor Jorge Cortes who chaired the meeting together with Professor Tessa Holyoake and Professor Tim Hughes.
