In late 2023, the iCMLf embarked on a new chapter with Professor Jorge Cortes as iCMLf Chairman. With his wealth of experience, he brings valuable insights and leadership to guide the iCMLf over the next years in its on-going mission to improve outcomes for people with CML globally.

New Members of the iCMLf Board of Directors: Professor Hemant Malhotra and Dr Katia Pagnano

Collage Malhotra PagnanoJoining our esteemed Board of Directors, are Professor Hemant Malhotra, from Jaipur, India and Dr Katia Pagnano from Campinas, Brazil. The broad expertise in CML from these two hematologists will bring critical perspectives from low- and middle-income countries at the Board level of the iCMLf. Their contribution to the strategic vision and governance of the Foundation will further our diverse and global representation, reach and impact.

We are excited to welcome Professor Ehab Atallah from Milwaukee, USA to our Scientific Advisory Board. Professor Atallah is a long-standing collaborator with the iCMLf in various programs and his commitment and experience will further strenghten our ability to advance CML research and innovation.

Newly launched Patient Advisory Committee

Close consultation and cooperation with CML Patient Advocacy groups has always been part of the iCMLf’s guiding principles. A newly launched iCMLf Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) aims to bring CML patients’ perspective to the forefront of the Foundation by providing patient centric advice to our educational and research programs, along with future strategies and priorities.

Sarah SwaroopNew Communications Manager: Sarah Swaroop

Introducing Sarah Swaroop (Glasgow, UK), our new iCMLf Communications Manager. Sarah brings over 15 years of experience in marketing, campaign development and strategic communications. Her work with the iCMLf will help to further grow our audience and share the Foundation’s programs and fundraising.


These additions to our governance and operational teams mark an exciting new chapter for the iCMLf. It’s only through the active engagement of the CML community around the world that the iCMLf will achieve our goals and we extend our gratitude to everyone involved making this happen.
